meet Rowena
my name is rowena, and i'm so happy you're here.

Welcome to the New School of Fundraising. I will be your lead instructor for your time with us.

I was introduced to the world of fundraising in 2002 when one of my family members needed help. Until then I had no idea that there were magical beings, called fundraisers, who raised money for these types of places and services. I knew that I wanted to be that person, to support my community in that way and to feel like I made a difference each and every day.

The creation of this School is a dream come true and it was a dream of mine for many years. Covid-19 and the loss of a good friend, who I met during my first fundraising class at BCIT and who was taken too soon, made me realize that it was now or never. You have to take a leap of faith at times! If you are here and reading this I am very proud to say that it must have worked.

Who am I as a person though?

  • I am a mother and wife.
  • I am a proud Dunne-za woman who is on my own reconciliation journey.
  • I am somewhat Prince George at heart even though I left there long ago.
  • I cry at pretty much everything and laugh at even more.

I look forward to getting to know you too!

"Rowena really "gets" fundraising and is a skilled relationship builder and strategist. We were lucky enough to teach together at BCIT and during that time the students raved about her positive energy, endless knowledge and valuable experience. Professional qualifications aside, she's also a fun and down to earth person that you want to be around."
