The NSDRC was established in 1976 by a group of parents, professionals and advocates who wanted to create services to ensure that people with disabilities could live comfortably in their communities. Since that time, we have continued to expand both our mandate and services. We continue to work to ensure that people with disabilities have the opportunity to participate actively as contributing members of society. We are committed to working toward a community that is free of physical, financial and attitudinal barriers.

The NSDRC is accredited through CARF International, an independent agency that ensures health and human services meet rigorous standards.

The NSDRC is a registered Canadian charity in good standing with the Canada Revenue Agency.
